Relive the 80s in this beat ‘em up

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a paid action game that lets you play as one of the titular ninja turtles plus their human ally April O’Neil. This beat ‘em up from Dotemu really brings up the 80s vibe, when the TMNT made it big across different media, through its gameplay mechanics, graphics, and even its cutscene cinematics.

Its overall feel is perfect for TMNT fans over the years, as well as those who are big on retro fighting games. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a great alternative to Streets of Rage 4 or Retro City Rampage.

Beat the Foot Clan and its leaders

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge really feels like a retro arcade game for a lot of reasons. First, it uses pixel art for its overall design, which it incorporates into the old-school interface design that shows the health bar, lives, and even the player score. Second, it uses similar, chiptune-based sound effects that feel right at home with the old animated series.

Next, the game has a multiplayer capability that lets you play with up to four players. Whether you’re planning to use full Turtle Power or turn to April for help, you can expect a fun and action-packed experience. Each character has their own weapon and unique move sets. For those curious about Ms. O’Neil, she uses her reporting equipment, from microphones to an entire video camera set.

The game also features a lot of memorable characters like Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, and obviously Shredder. Loyal fans of the franchise might be looking for Casey Jones, though. Unfortunately, the hockey-themed ally is nowhere to be found in this game. Aside from the minor absence, the game makes up for it with its variety of foes — Foot clan ninjas, rock troops, and triceraton warriors will keep the game challenging.

A TMNT game you can’t miss

You don’t have to be born in the 80s to appreciate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. With its loyalty to the source material, together with generous servings of fun and action, this game definitely appeals to a lot of players. As a must-have TMNT video game, this earns a spot in your next squad gaming session, with everyone having a character to suit their liking.
